On May 11, 2023, China Quality Certification Center (CQC) issued a notice on the implementation of the new version of the standard and certification rules for electric automatic controllers for household and similar uses. The new version of GB/T 14536.1-2022 “Electric automatic controller Part 1: General requirements” will be implemented on July 1, 2023.
The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) has revised the CQC13-448321-2016 “Safety Certification Rules for Electric Automatic Controllers for Household and Similar Uses” involving the standards in Table 1.

The Main Amendments to the Rules
1. The name of the rules from the “household and similar use of electric automatic controller safety certification rules” changed to “electric automatic controller safety certification rules”;
2. Updated according to the standard
◆ GB/T 14536.3-2022 replaces GB/T 14536.3-2008 and GB/T 14536.5-2008;
◆ GB/T 14536.6-2022 instead of GB/T 14536.6-2008;
◆ GB/T 14536.10-2022 instead of GB/T 14536.10-2008;
◆ GB/T 14536.13-2022 instead of GB/T 14536.13-2008;
◆ GB/T 14536.15-2022 instead of GB/T 14536.15-2008;
3. Adding GB/T 14536.1-2022 according to the standard;
4. Modification of the scope of applicable products;
5. Change the validity of the certificate from long-term to 5 years;
6. Increase the review requirements
Implementation of the new standard requirements
- From the date of publication of the notice to June 30, 2023, certification applicants can voluntarily choose to apply for certification in accordance with the new standard or the old standard; since July 1, 2023, CQC will use the new standard to implement certification, and issue a certificate of certification to the new standard.
- For the products that have been certified, the applicant can submit an application for certificate renewal to CQC since the date of the notice. The standard change according to the old and new standard differences (see annex) to make up the relevant differences in the test, the CQC assessment after passing the new version of the standard certificate can be issued.
- The version of the old standard certification will be June 30, 2024 deadline, after the completion of the version of the certification certificate, will be suspended; October 1, 2024 is still not completed before the work of the version of the certificate, the old standard certification will be revoked.
